Creatives Escapes
ART WORKSHOPS
Slow down. Make space. Get creative.
Set in the beautiful countryside at Lambourne House, our art retreats are an opportunity to step away from the everyday, slow down and make time for yourself.
It’s about connecting with other women, reconnecting with your creativity and enjoying the simple pleasure of making something with your hands — without the pressure to be ‘good’ at art.
You don’t need to be an experienced artist or have any previous experience. There’s no expectation to create a masterpiece. Instead, you’ll have the freedom to explore, experiment, try something new and enjoy the process.
Alongside creative activities, there’s plenty of time to relax, chat, enjoy the beautiful surroundings and simply be present.
Whether you come on your own, bring a friend or join as part of a group, it’s a welcoming space to meet new people, reconnect with yourself and rediscover the joy of being creative.
Your retreat includes
Time to create
Explore creative activities in a relaxed and supportive environment, with no experience needed.
Time to connect
Meet other women, share ideas and enjoy good conversation.
Time to slow down
Step away from your usual routine and enjoy the peace and beauty of the countryside.
Time for yourself
Pause, switch off and do something simply because you enjoy it.
Come as you are
This retreat isn’t about being an artist. It’s about being curious, connecting with others and making space for your creativity. Come on your own or with friends, bring an open mind and give yourself permission to slow down, make something and enjoy the moment.
Seasonal Workshops
Forge Farm runs a changing series of craft workshops throughout the year, each one suited to the season and led by a specialist maker. All are based in the barn studio and open to complete beginners.
Paper Flower Making
Working petal by petal with fine paper, you'll learn how to shape and assemble delicate blooms that hold their form long after the day is done.
It's detailed, absorbing work — good for anyone who likes to slow down and concentrate on something small.
Lampshade Making
A practical workshop with a tangible result — you'll choose your fabric, learn the construction and go home with a finished lampshade made to your own specification.
It's a good combination of craft and design, and something you'll actually use.
Photography
A guided session focused on seeing rather than equipment — working with what you have, whether that's a camera or a phone, in a landscape that gives you plenty to practise on.
The Ceiriog valley, the farm buildings, the light on the river: there's no shortage of subject matter.
Willow Weaving
Using sustainably sourced willow, you'll learn traditional techniques for making baskets and small sculptural forms.
It's practical and grounding — the kind of craft that connects you to the landscape and produces something genuinely useful to take home.
Block Printing
You'll carve your own design and use it to print onto fabric or paper — a process that rewards patience and doesn't punish imperfection.
Each print comes out slightly differently, which is half the point.
Flower Arranging
Working with freshly gathered seasonal stems, you'll put together loose, natural arrangements that follow the garden rather than the florist's manual.
The focus is on colour, balance and what grows well together at that particular time of year.
Lino Cutting
Starting from a sketch, you'll carve your design into lino and produce a series of hand-pulled prints over the course of the day.
The process is methodical and satisfying — the kind of work that quietens your head without requiring you to think about it.
